FAQs

How do I check availability to host my own event/retreat?

Reserved dates will appear on our events and retreats pages. For inquiries outside of those dates please email us info@texasponderosa.com

What amenities are included when our group "takes over the ranch"?

The “take over the ranch” rate includes 4 cabins (10 max occupancy), a 1700 square foot pavilion with sound system, all meals, snacks, smoothies and s’mores, standup paddle boards and canoes, daily longhorn feedings, campfires, all yoga mats/props, and sunrises, sunsets and amazing display of stars is also included!

What is the maximum occupancy on the ranch?

We have four cabins that sleep a max of 10 people.

What is your cancellation policy?

Details can be found in our terms and conditions when registering but in a nutshell, for cabin rentals, we require notification within 14 days of your stay. For pavilion rentals we require a 30 days’ notice, and for those wanting to take over the ranch and host their own retreats we require 120 days’ notice.

Can I bring my pet?

Here at the Ponderosa we might be the biggest animal lovers on the planet, but no outside pets are allowed, including emotional support and service dogs.

Is there cell service or wifi available at the ranch?

Most cell phone carriers get service, but there is no wifi provided. We prefer good ol’ fashioned face to face conversation and encourage you to step away from your electronic devices while visiting the Ponderosa.

Do you have daily housekeeping?

We do not provide daily housekeeping.  Fresh towels and amenities are available upon request.

Are children allowed at the ranch?

Children under 5 stay/eat free. 5+ are welcome but will count towards the max cabin occupancy.

Do you serve alcohol?

Nope. But we allow guests of legal drinking age to BYOB.

Can we use communal fire pits?

We require a Ponderosa staff member to oversee all campfires. Fires are approved dependent upon wind conditions and county-wide burn ban notices.

What wildlife might I encounter during my stay?

The ranch spans 160 acres and we share the Ponderosa with all sorts of animals, insects and plants that are native to Texas including but not limited to longhorns, deer, coyotes, armadillos, herons, and a variety of other species.

Will I need a car when I visit the ranch?

Not necessarily, but if you want the freedom to explore local attractions/wineries then yes.

Once I am inside the gates, what’s the mode of transportation around the ranch?

Parking is designated just inside the gates and cars/trucks are not permitted past that point. We have two golf carts to help our guests get around, but depending on the number of guests at the ranch, there is a chance you will be hoofin’ it. The pavilion and cabins are about 100 and 250 yards respectively from the main cabin.

Can I bring my own gun?

No. We ask that you leave your firearms at home. We offer skeet/target shooting here and use only the guns that our staff has been trained on.

Is smoking allowed?

Our cabins and enclosed areas are all 100% smoke free. Smoking is allowed in designated areas only.

Is there a manager/staff member available and on-call 24/7 during our stay?

We are a non-hosted facility, meaning we do not have a traditional front desk. However, someone is always on property, and available to answer questions and respond to your requests. Call Lori at 940.703.8711.

Do you have security cameras on your property and a safe to store valuables in the cabins?

Because we take pride in our establishment, we do have a few game cameras around the property to help us monitor theft and damage. We have never had an issue nor a need to worry about personal belongings being stolen, therefore we do not provide a safe for valuables. We suggest that you leave them at home if you have a concern.
